For our photo assignment, we wanted to capture the diversity of the Hunter College student body through students' different types of shoes. Footwear, sometimes fashionable or other times simply functional, can say a lot about the person wearing it. We say, "walk a mile in someone else's shoes" for a reason: the steps of a person's life are their own and no one else's. But it's important to take a minute to notice what each of us is doing, where we're going, how we're getting there...and in what shoes! We learned about our subjects from taking these pictures and from asking them to tell us a little about themselves. The lesson that resulted was almost instantaneous: how gratifying it can be to appreciate the hustle and bustle around us each day, and to value the individuality between us as we each continue on our separate paths.
